Our Story

Nalmac Embossing Inc. was started in 1978 by Mark Nalband. With a Business Administration degree from U.Mass and 2 years craft training from Uncle John McIntosh at his 2 shops in Minneapolis & Washington DC, Mark headed for a wide open print market in Atlanta Georgia.

The first shop space was a sublet 600 square feet. The first press was manufacturer financed at 17% interest. But the Atlanta market was good for quality foil & emboss services.

Local bank lenders did not find merit in the Nalmac business plan. Nalmac’s scale of small business was a need for $20,000 to acquire a second used press. Great Aunt Ovsanna provided the unsecured loan that allowed the business early growth. Ovsanna had escaped the 1915 genocide of Armenians in Turkey. She believed Mark would not squander her savings. Within 4 years, Nalmac had purchased a 3,000 square foot shop in Atlanta’s Inman Park.

Now in it’s 7,000 square foot Hapeville shop, Nalmac is still an owner operated craft print finishing shop with 5 Kluge hot stamping presses, 2 Heidelberg cylinder diecutters and a 35” paper cutter. We treat each job like you have entrusted us with working capital.

The consistent focus on quality foil, emboss, finishing services has allowed the business to span 40 years. The recent decline in commercial print demand has directed more attention to the custom invitation market that requires top level production skills. The challenge of custom design, short run personal card orders brings highly gratifying accomplishments.
